  • MEDITECH's Web EHR Expands in Canada

6.1 Web EHR Platform Enables Markham Stouffville Hospital to Form Partnerships with Hospitals in Ontario and Beyond

WESTWOOD, Mass., Aug. 23, 2016 -- While MEDITECH continues to expand its footprint across Canada, a long-term Canadian customer has also decided to upgrade to the company's newest Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform. Located in Ontario, where 58 percent of hospitals are using MEDITECH, Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) announced they will be implementing MEDITECH's latest web-based EHR platform in February 2017.

"MEDITECH is celebrating 35 years of successful healthcare partnerships in Canada, and we are honored to have progressive healthcare leaders like Markham Stouffville Hospital continue to move forward with the company's Web EHR," said Christine Parent, associate vice president of marketing at MEDITECH.

A MEDITECH customer for over 25 years, the 265-bed community hospital is best known for achieving HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 in 2014 with the highest EMRAM score for an acute care hospital in Canada. Located in one of the fastest growing areas in Ontario, MSH serves over 300,000 patients in Markham, Stouffville, Uxbridge, and the Greater Toronto Area. Recent recommendations from The Hospital Information System (HIS) Renewal Advisory Panel encouraging partnerships between hospitals is one of the reasons why MSH decided on an integrated, innovative EHR tool that puts them in a position to not only provide services to patients but ensure patient safety and quality of care.

"MSH is well positioned with the MEDITECH Web EHR platform to serve as a host for other Ontario hospitals seeking a hosting partner as recommended by the Hospital Information System (HIS) Renewal Advisory Panel," May Chang, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at MSH said.

"We want to be a partner for providing healthcare in the area," Lewis Hooper, chief information officer at MSH said. "As we move forward with MEDITECH's Web EHR, MSH is also excited about enhancements in Critical Care, Surgical Services, and Patient and Consumer Health Portal solutions."

Serving customers in Canada since 1981, MEDITECH is the leading EHR vendor in the country with 589 facilities. The MEDITECH EHR is also installed in 7 out of 10 provinces as well as in 2 of 3 territories. In 2015/2016, MEDITECH was recognized as Best in KLAS Community HIS and KLAS Category Leader for Global Acute EMR in Northern America (Canada).

  • Kansas-Based Hays Medical Center Upgrades to MEDITECH's Web EHR

HaysMed continues to partner with MEDITECH for system-wide integration and interoperability

WESTWOOD, Mass., Oct. 12, 2016 -- Hays Medical Center (Hays, KS) announced they will continue their partnership with MEDITECH by moving forward with the company's Web Electronic Health Record (EHR). MEDITECH's EHR will support the private, not-for-profit 207-bed community hospital in providing the best care for patients across their region.

"A strong partnership, in addition to robust interoperability and system-wide integration, was what we wanted from an EHR and partner — and we have that with MEDITECH," John Jeter, MD, president and CEO at HaysMed said. "MEDITECH's exceptional customer support was another driving factor that led to our decision to move forward with the Web EHR."

A MEDITECH client since 2003, HaysMed will start their Web Ambulatory and Acute implementation in December 2016. Designed by physicians for physicians, the new web platform accelerates care delivery with a complete web chart, giving physicians instant access to all patient records across the continuum.

According to Dr. Jeter, once physicians at HaysMed saw the Web EHR in action, they were impressed by the minute by minute updates on patients, smooth transitions of care, streamlined workflows, and the ability to access the platform on multiple smart devices.

"The sleek look-and-feel and ease of use attracted us to MEDITECH's Web EHR," Dr. Jeter said. "As an ED physician myself, I understand the importance of an EHR tool that is intuitive, efficient, and supports daily tasks such as entering orders or documenting patient visits. I believe MEDITECH's EHR hits the mark in terms of fostering quality patient care delivery and matching physicians' workflows."

MEDITECH's commitment to shaping and driving interoperability initiatives was another key reason HaysMed made the decision to continue its partnership with MEDITECH. As a member of the CommonWell Health Alliance, HL7 FHIR Argonaut Project, and participation in numerous national organizations, MEDITECH is ensuring its customers can safely and securely exchange patient data across care settings, local HIE exchanges, and federal and local health agencies.

"We're pleased to continue our relationship with HaysMed and to be their partner in delivering quality patient care," Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MEDITECH, Helen Waters said. "HaysMed represents the next generation of progressive, EHR consumers leveraging our clinically-integrated Web EHR to elevate physician productivity and enhance the patient experience."

St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Mary Rutan Hospital, and Bella Vista Hospital continue partnerships with MEDITECH and migrate to the latest release

WESTWOOD, Mass., Nov. 2, 2016 -- From large IDNs to small critical access hospitals, MEDITECH's Web Electronic Health Record (EHR) is transforming workflows for care providers and healthcare staff. That's why MEDITECH customers are recognizing the added benefits of migrating from the company's legacy platforms to the contemporary and clinically-integrated Web EHR.

"We're continuing valuable partnerships with our customers as they move forward with the latest technology MEDITECH has to offer," Christine Parent, associate vice president of marketing at MEDITECH said. Recently, these three MEDITECH customers announced they would be moving forward with the company's state-of-the-art Web EHR.

St. Claire Regional Medical Center (Morehead, Ky.)

St. Claire Regional Medical Center is the largest rural hospital in northeastern Kentucky providing services ranging from primary care to specialty and acute care. Mary Rutan Hospital (Bellefontaine, Ohio)

Mary Rutan Hospital (45-beds) signed a contract to move from 6.0 to MEDITECH's Web Ambulatory, Acute, and Emergency Department solutions. Director of Information Technologies at Mary Rutan Hospital, Robert Reynolds, said they are committed to provider satisfaction and are impressed with the Web EHR's ability to boost provider productivity.

"We view our partnership with MEDITECH as the cornerstone of our efforts to remain an independent community hospital. After initiating a thorough evaluation of EHR solutions, the 43-bed hospital with seven family care and six specialty clinics, chose to continue its partnership with MEDITECH.

  • WESTWOOD, Mass.Jan. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing with the 126-bed not-for-profit community hospital's commitment to providing the best care across the continuum, Duncan Regional Hospital (DRH)(Duncan, Okla.) announced they will be upgrading to MEDITECH's Web Electronic Health Record (EHR) in 2017. A MEDITECH customer since 1989, DRH has made a long-standing commitment to leverage their EHR to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.

"Knowledge is power and knowledge is in the EHR data," Roger Neal, CIO and vice president of operations at DRH said. "The Web EHR works the way end-users think—not only the medical staff, but the clinicians and financial staff. It really is an intuitive and integrated system with clinical, financial, ambulatory, ED, and long-term care data."

The advancements in MEDITECH's Web EHR support the hospital's long term goals and provides the end-user with more flexibility and control. For DRH, critical care and improving patient monitoring are at the top of their list. According to Neal, detecting and treating Sepsis and preventing falls are ongoing initiatives as physicians and nurses make their rounds on a daily basis.

"The culture at DRH has always been to help patients and their families first. Everything we do whether it's technical, operational, clinical, financial—we always have our patients in mind," Neal said. "It's important to have the right information for the safety of our patients and the way to have that is an integrated EHR."

In addition, moving to MEDITECH's Web EHR allows DRH to remain financially strong and independent in an ever changing industry riddled with government regulation.

"In today's healthcare climate, it's important to have supportive relationships to help comply with regulations because the industry isn't getting easier, it's getting harder everyday," Neal said. "We know in the long run that MEDITECH will be there to help us with regulatory changes, ambulatory changes, and clinical change. We truly appreciate our partnership with MEDITECH as we don't get that with every vendor."

"Our customers are excited about what MEDITECH has done to build a truly integrated, modernized ambulatory and acute care system designed by physicians and delivered by MEDITECH," Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MEDITECH, Helen Waters said. "We're pleased to have DRH join the growing list of progressive healthcare organizations that are transforming care across North America in the ambulatory and acute environment with MEDITECH's modern web solution."
