The National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved (NHIT Collaborative), in collaboration with National Human Genome Center at Howard University will be convening the "Third Annual NHIT Collaborative for the Underserved Conference: The Perfect Storm: Genomics, Precision Medicine, and Health IT Innovation - Opportunities in Underserved Communities," on December 14, in conjunction with the HIMSS Connected Health Conference, Washington, DC.

The goal of this conference is to explore, in the face of the burgeoning use of precision medicine and genomics, the opportunities created to benefit underserved communities economically, socially and medically. We will involve leaders in science, ethics, business, law, medicine and health policy to  elucidate current and future innovations at the intersection of health IT and precision medicine that can potentially impact health disparities, health outcomes, community and individual consumer empowerment, economic development and the very way we see each other’s diversity.

We will also be announcing the finalist of the “Advancing Health Equity through Precision Medicine Tools" challenge at the conference.
